About this guide

Pickleball Guide Australia is an independent, Australian guide to pickleball: the rules, the courts, where to play in each capital city, and the gear, with prices in Australian dollars and measurements in metres.

Who writes it?

The guides are researched and written by Daniel Kilkelly. Daniel is not a pickleball coach, referee or official, and does not hold any pickleball qualification. What he does is the research: reading the official rulebook, Pickleball Australia and state association pages, council documents, and retailer and venue pages, then explaining what they say in plain English with a link to every source.

If you want coaching, Pickleball Australia runs a coach finder and accreditation program, and your club can point you to accredited coaches.

Why does this site exist?

Much of the pickleball information I found online was written for the United States: courts in feet, prices in US dollars, and places to play in American cities. Australians searching for court sizes in metres, paddles at Australian retailers or a club in Perth or Hobart had to piece it together. This site puts it in one place.

Is it affiliated with Pickleball Australia or any brand?

No. The site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or paid by Pickleball Australia, any state or territory association, any club or venue, any council, or any equipment brand or retailer. Brand and venue names appear only as facts, for example a paddle's price at a named retailer or a club's suburb.

How is it funded?

At the moment it is not. There are no ads and no affiliate links. In future the site may show advertising, for example through Google AdSense, and may join retailer affiliate programs. If that happens, this page and the privacy policy will say so, and advertising will never decide what a page says or which venues are listed.

How are facts checked?

Every page lists the sources it relies on, and all of them are collected on the sources page. Pages were last checked in November 2026. The editorial policy explains the rules I follow, including how venues are chosen and how corrections are handled.
