Editorial policy

This page explains how the guides on Pickleball Guide Australia are researched, written and kept up to date. All pages are researched and written by Daniel Kilkelly. The current round of checks was completed in November 2026.

Every fact has a source

Every page ends with a list of the sources it relies on, and the complete list is on the sources page. I prefer primary sources in this order:

1. Official rulebooks: the 2026 rulebook Pickleball Australia links to, and the official rules of tennis, padel and badminton for comparisons.
2. Pickleball Australia and the state and territory associations.
3. Government and council pages, planning documents and parliamentary records.
4. Venue, club and retailer pages, for facts about themselves (location, courts, prices).
5. Reputable news and trade publications, named in the text when I rely on them.

If I cannot verify something, I leave it out rather than guess.

How venues are chosen

• A venue is listed only if I found a public page confirming it offers pickleball, and that page is linked as its source.
• I list the name, suburb and website, plus short notes taken from the source. I do not publish phone numbers or email addresses.
• I do not rate, rank or review venues, and no venue pays to be listed.
• Venues seen only on third-party directories, marked "coming soon", or without a stated location are left out until a primary page confirms them.

How prices are presented

Prices are typical ranges read from Australian retailer and venue pages, with the month they were checked. They are not quotes, and sales change them often. I do not use affiliate links, and no retailer has paid for inclusion.

Health, safety and planning topics

Where a page touches on health, safety, council approvals or noise, I cite the official body or the council document directly and say clearly that the page is general information. I do not give medical, legal or planning advice.

What I do not do

• No invented statistics, reviews, testimonials or "I tested" claims.
• No claims of coaching or official qualifications.
• No sponsored content.
• No photos of people, venues or products. Diagrams are drawn to scale from the official dimensions.

When pages are rechecked

Venue lists and prices change fastest, so I aim to recheck them every three to six months. Rules pages are rechecked when a new rulebook is published each year. Every page shows the date it was last updated.

Corrections

If you find an error, please contact mewith a link to a source. I check the source, fix the page if it is wrong, and update the page's date.
