Privacy policy
Last updated: November 2026.
This policy explains what information Pickleball Guide Australia collects when you use it, who it is shared with, and how to opt out. The short version: the site has no accounts or forms, and it uses two analytics tools to see which pages are read and how they are used.
Information you give me
The site has no accounts, logins or forms. If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. I use it only to reply and to act on corrections or venue suggestions, and I do not sell or share it.
Analytics: what is collected
The live site loads Google Tag Manager, a Google tool that in turn loads two analytics services. Neither is used to identify you, and I do not combine their data with anything else.
- Google Analytics 4 (Google) counts page views and records how you arrived (for example a search engine or another website), your approximate location at city or region level, your device, browser and screen size, and how pages are used: which links to other websites you click (such as a venue, a retailer or a source), how far down a page you scroll, roughly how long a guide stays open, page loading speed, whether you used the venue filter (how many characters were typed and how many venues matched, never the words), and when text is copied (the number of characters, never the text).
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft) records how the page is used, such as mouse movement, clicks and scrolling, to produce session recordings and heatmaps that show where pages are confusing. Clarity masks text you type by default.
Google and Microsoft process this data on their own servers, which may be outside Australia, including in the United States. Their own policies apply: the Google Privacy Policy and the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Cookies
These tools set cookies in your browser:
_gaand_ga_followed by an id (Google Analytics): tell visits apart and recognise a returning browser, kept for up to two years._clck(Microsoft Clarity): recognises a returning browser, kept for up to one year._clsk(Microsoft Clarity): joins the pages viewed in one visit into a single recording, kept for one day.
The site does not show a cookie banner. This page is the notice of what is collected, and you can opt out at any time as set out below.
How to opt out
- Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which stops Google Analytics on every site.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use a private window. Blocking cookies stops both Google Analytics and Clarity from recognising a returning browser.
- Content blockers and many privacy-focused browsers stop Google Tag Manager loading at all. The site works fully without it.
Advertising
The site shows no ads at the time of writing. I may add Google AdSense in future. If I do, Google and its partners may use cookies, including personalised advertising cookies, to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and you will be able to turn off personalised ads in Google's Ads Settings. I will update this policy before any advertising is switched on.
Server logs
As with any website, my hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and reliability.
Links to other sites
My pages link to official bodies, councils, clubs, venues and retailers. Their privacy practices are their own, so please read their policies.
