Short answer: council courts are a big part of pickleball in Brisbane. Brisbane City Council says purpose-built and dual-marked pickleball courts are in more than 25 parks, including Joachim Street Park in Holland Park West, which opened in 2023 as the city's first dedicated public pickleball courts. For organised games, Brisbane Pickleball Club runs come-and-try and social sessions across the city. Indoor options include Get Pickl'd in Meadowbrook, Northside Badminton and Pickleball Centre in Brendale and PCYC Lang Park in Milton.

Brisbane City Council has been delivering pickleball courts since 2020, so there are public courts spread across the suburbs. Public courts are shared, though, so a club is still the easiest way to get a regular organised game.

Brisbane City Council pickleball courts

The Lord Mayor announced in July 2023 four new council pickleball court locations for 2023/24: Greenways Esplanade Park (Parkinson), Enoggera Creek Sport and Recreation Precinct (Newmarket), Sheriff Park (Wakerley) and John Magee Park (Seventeen Mile Rocks). That announcement said council had delivered 14 courts since 2020 and that more than 6,000 people were playing pickleball across Brisbane. Those were planned sites at the time of the announcement, so check council's current listings before heading out.

Council's own page now says purpose-built and dual-marked pickleball courts are in more than 25 parks. A council park upgrade at Dash Street park in Keperra added a pickleball court. Joachim Street Park in Holland Park West was reported in July 2023 as Brisbane's first dedicated public pickleball courts.

Brisbane north: Redcliffe and Moreton Bay

Focus Tennis and Pickleball at the Redcliffe Tennis Centre runs social pickleball and fixtures and was named the 2023 Pickleball Queensland Club of the Year. It hosted the Queensland Pickleball Tour Brisbane event from 24 to 26 April 2026, and PAQ's June 2026 newsletter lists it as the venue for the 2026 Queensland Pickleball Championship from 1 to 5 July 2026. Further north-west, PCYC Pine Rivers in Bray Park and Northside Badminton and Pickleball Centre in Brendale both run indoor sessions.

Brisbane south and bayside

On the south side, Get Pickl'd in Meadowbrook (Logan) has 7 fully fenced indoor courts and a pro shop. Toward the bay, Redland City Council has line-marked 20 pickleball courts at EGW Wood Sports field in Wellington Point, with 8 bookable by the community and 12 to be managed by a club, and it ran an expression of interest for a club licence in March 2026. Brisbane Bayside Pickleball Club lists Wellington Point as its home courts and says all its facilities have lighting for night sessions.

Inner city

PCYC Lang Park at Suncorp Stadium in Milton runs indoor pickleball on its class timetable, which suits city workers. Brisbane Pickleball Club also runs sessions at multiple venues across the city, including games advertised at Nissan Arena.

Pro pickleball in Brisbane

PPA Tour Australia billed the PPA 1500 Brisbane, held from 13 to 18 October 2026 at the Queensland Tennis Centre, as the biggest event of the Australian season, with US$500,000 in prize money.

How to choose a Brisbane venue

  1. First time? Brisbane Pickleball Club's come-and-try sessions teach rules and scoring, with equipment provided.
  2. Free and casual? Use a council court. Bring a portable net in case one is not set up, and be ready to share.
  3. Rain or heat? Choose an indoor option: Get Pickl'd, Northside, PCYC Lang Park or PCYC Pine Rivers.
  4. Want competition? Look at Brisbane Bayside's league play or PAQ's Queensland Pickleball Tour, and read my tournaments guide.
