Short answer: Canberra's main pickleball venue is the Pickledome in Fadden, run by Pickleball ACT, with 11 permanent indoor courts. Pickleball ACT also runs sessions at Shirley Smith High School in Kenny and Belconnen Community Centre, and the ACT Government says it hosts social play every day on both the northside and southside. Separately, the Pickleball Canberra clubs play in Gungahlin, Amaroo, Watson, Dickson, Bruce and Forrest, and Canberra Racquet Club in Fyshwick has four indoor courts.

In Canberra the territory association runs its own dedicated indoor centre, which makes it simple to find a game: book a session at the Pickledome or one of the association's other venues.

Who runs pickleball in the ACT?

Pickleball ACT (PACT) is the territory member of Pickleball Australia. Its About page says it was established on 8 July 2021 and now has over 1,200 players across Canberra and the region. Region Canberra reported in December 2024 that 730 players were registered with Pickleball ACT and that pickleball in Canberra had grown 55 per cent in the past year.

According to Region Canberra, Pickleball ACT used school gyms from 2021 to 2023, then leased the former Empowerdome in Fadden, now the Pickledome, which has 11 permanent courts.

The Pickledome, Fadden

The Pickledome at 56 Coyne Street, Fadden is Pickleball ACT's main venue, with 11 indoor hard courts. Pickleball ACT says paddles and balls are available for beginners, so you do not need your own gear for a first session. The ACT Government named it in a May 2026 roundup of sports to try in the territory.

Northside options

On the northside, Pickleball ACT runs sessions at Belconnen Community Centre (three multi-sport courts, with session hosts who help new players get started). The Pickleball Canberra clubs cover Gungahlin and Amaroo (Gungahlin Pickleball Club, which offers a free first session), Watson and Dickson (North Canberra Pickleball Club) and Bruce (Belconnen Pickleball Club, which says a first hit is free).

Southside options

On the southside, Pickleball ACT uses eight multi-sport hardwood courts at Shirley Smith High School in Kenny, alongside the Pickledome in Fadden. South Canberra Pickleball Club plays at Wesley Tennis Club in Forrest and at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra in Yarralumla. Canberra Racquet Club in Fyshwick has four indoor pickleball courts alongside padel.

Canberra's competitive scene

Region Canberra reported that Canberra players won 31 medals, including 12 gold, at the national championships in October 2024. Pickleball ACT lists the 2026 ACT Pickleball Championships as Canberra's largest pickleball tournament, and Pickleball Australia's state championships page lists them for 20 to 23 November 2026. How to choose a Canberra venue

  1. First time? Go to the Pickledome or a Pickleball ACT session where paddles are available, or take up a Pickleball Canberra club's free first session.
  2. Live in Gungahlin or Belconnen? Use the local club rather than driving to Fadden.
  3. Want to hire a court with friends? Canberra Racquet Club takes bookings for its indoor courts.
