Where to play pickleball on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast punches above its size in pickleball. It hosts the national championships, and its main club says it has passed 1,000 members. Here is where to play.

Who runs pickleball on the Gold Coast?

At state level, the Pickleball Association of Queensland (Pickleball QLD) is the member of Pickleball Australia. Its February 2026 newsletter cites more than 6,800 members and 46 clubs plus 23 PCYC venues statewide.

Locally, the Gold Coast Pickleball Association (GCPA) says it started in 2017 and has reached 1,000 members. Pickleball Queensland congratulated GCPA in April 2021 on developing 8 pickleball courts at Currumbin. GCPA lists four club venues: Currumbin (its headquarters on Duringan Street), Runaway Bay, Tallebudgera (indoor) and Pizzey Park. It runs day and night sessions, a Wednesday morning ladder league at Currumbin and private court hire.

The Australian Pickleball Championships on the Gold Coast

Experience Gold Coast announced in November 2023 a four-year deal bringing the Australian Pickleball Championships to the Gold Coast every October from 2024 to 2027. The 2024 event was held at KDV Sport in Carrara. Pickleball Queensland's guide to the 2025 Trilogy Funds Australian Pickleball Championships says that event ran from 29 September to 6 October 2025 at the Pimpama Sports Hub.

The Queensland Pickleball Tour also visits. QPT Gold Coast 2026 was held from 10 to 12 July 2026 at Pure Tennis Runaway Bay, after being moved from February because of a severe weather forecast.

Southern Gold Coast: Currumbin, Elanora and Tallebudgera

Most of the venues I could verify are at the southern end. GCPA's Currumbin headquarters, House of Pickle Currumbin (three indoor courts) in Currumbin Waters and Rebound Stadium in Elanora are all close together. The state-run Gold Coast Recreation Precinct at Tallebudgera, on the Gold Coast Highway at North Palm Beach, has indoor multipurpose courts with pickleball markings, and GCPA lists it as one of its club venues.

Central: Carrara, Robina and Nerang

KDV Sport in Carrara has three courts open from early morning to late evening, social play sessions, and a Friday morning Pickleball Kickstart session for beginners. Racquet Club Gold Coast at Robina Town Centre lists six outdoor pickleball courts beside its padel courts, booked through Playtomic. PCYC Nerang runs indoor sessions it describes as inclusive and all-weather, for all ages and skill levels.

The Pizzey Park noise dispute

Pickleball noise has become a council issue on the Gold Coast. In a Queensland Parliament speech on 28 October 2025, the Member for Mermaid Beach said City of Gold Coast council had told a group of about 200 pickleballers at the Miami seniors tennis courts in Pizzey Park that pickleball must stop there after a noise complaint. How to choose a Gold Coast venue

1. New to it? KDV Sport's Pickleball Kickstart session or a GCPA beginner session is the easy start. Read my beginner's guide first.
2. Visiting on holiday? Pay-and-play venues such as KDV Sport, Racquet Club Gold Coast or House of Pickle Currumbin are simplest because you do not need a club membership.
3. Want regular social games and ladders? Join GCPA.
4. Want to compete? The Australian Championships are on the Gold Coast each October through to 2027 under the current deal. See my tournaments guide.
