Short answer: Melbourne's pickleball is concentrated in privately run centres, many of them indoor: Picklezone Springvale (8 indoor courts), Runway Pickleball in Tullamarine (8 courts), Pickleball Palace in Pascoe Vale (5 indoor courts) and Pickle4Real in Mentone, plus outdoor venues such as Pickle Park Caulfield and Dink & Drive in Port Melbourne. Clubs include Stonnington, Clifton Hill and Craigieburn. Pickleball Victoria's clubs page is the most complete affiliated list.

Most of the Melbourne venues I could verify are privately run centres rather than council courts, and several are indoor. Here is the confirmed list and how it splits across the city.

Who runs pickleball in Victoria?

Pickleball Victoria (PV) is the state member of Pickleball Australia. Its clubs page lists affiliated clubs, community groups and venues or businesses, tagged so you can tell which is which. PV does not publish a member count on its pages, but Pickleball Australia reported in February 2025 that Victoria had 2,508 members, compared with 6,093 in NSW and 5,172 in Queensland.

Professional pickleball in Melbourne

Melbourne has hosted pro events. The 2025 Proton Australia Pickleball Open, the third event of the 2025 PPA Tour season, was held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. PPA Tour Australia's calendar also lists a 2026 PPA 250 Melbourne event at Raya Pickleball Club and Pickle4Real. Check the calendar for current events and entry details.

How to choose a Melbourne venue

  1. Total beginner? Pick somewhere that advertises learn-to-play or beginner sessions, such as Dink & Drive or Clifton Hill, and read my beginner's guide.
  2. Want a free hit? Carlson Reserve in Clayton has public courts marked for pickleball. Bring a net if none is set up.
  3. Want to book a court with friends any day? The private centres take online bookings.
  4. Over 60? Clifton Hill's U3A session is one example of a seniors-focused option. See my seniors guide.

Missing a venue?

Several Melbourne venues and council courts did not have a page I could confirm this month, including one council page that blocked access. If yours is missing, send me a link to a page that confirms it.
