Where to play pickleball in Perth

Perth's pickleball scene is spread out the way the city is, so the useful question is less "where is pickleball in Perth" and more "what is closest to me, and is it indoor or outdoor". The table below lists only venues confirmed on a public page in November 2026, each with its source.

Who runs pickleball in WA?

The Pickleball Association of Western Australia Inc. (PAWA) is the WA member of Pickleball Australia, the national body. Pickleball Australia's organisation structure page describes the state and territory members as governing pickleball in their state. PAWA's site is the best starting point for Perth: it splits its where-to-play lists into North of River, South of River and Eastern Suburbs, and separates PAWA or affiliate-operated venues from non-affiliated ones. PAWA does not publish a WA membership figure on its pages.

Nationally, Pickleball Australia's home page showed 29,835 members and 446 clubs when I checked in November 2026.

Session days and times change often. Treat the notes below as a starting point and check the venue's own page before you go.

Pickleball courts in Joondalup

Joondalup comes up a lot in Perth pickleball searches, and it has two quite different options:

• Arena Joondalup on Kennedya Drive hires indoor courts for pickleball and has four outdoor pickleball courts on the northern side of the precinct. Its court hire page notes that indoor courts are not available before 8am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
• Free council courts. A City of Joondalup news item dated 1 April 2026 lists three free courts as also suitable for pickleball: Camberwarra Park in Craigie, Kingsley Park in Kingsley and James Cook Park in Hillarys. They are first come, first served with no booking. The page does not say they carry pickleball line-marking, so take a portable net and be ready to mark or adapt.

Nearby in the northern suburbs, PAWA lists sessions at Ocean Ridge Tennis Club in Heathridge, North Shore Country Club in Kallaroo, and Sunset Coast Pickleball at the Sacred Heart College gym in Sorrento.

North of the river

Beyond Joondalup, the north has the two biggest dedicated options in the metro area. Perth Pickleball Centre in Wanneroo is listed with 9 hard courts and long opening hours. The City of Wanneroo runs casual social sessions at Kingsway Indoor Stadium, with balls provided and paddles available to hire. Closer to the city, Nollamara Tennis Club runs outdoor sessions that it describes as beginner friendly, with gear supplied, and Happy Pickle Perth runs four indoor courts at the Maccabi Sports Centre in Yokine.

South of the river and the eastern suburbs

South of the river, the City of South Perth's George Burnett Leisure Centre in Karawara runs drop-in social pickleball with equipment hire, and West Coast Pickleball runs sessions there. PAWA also lists West Coast Pickleball sessions at the Samson Recreation Centre in Fremantle's Samson. In the eastern suburbs, PAWA lists Belmont Park Tennis Club in Cloverdale.

Pickleball on Rottnest Island

RAC Horizons reported that Rotto Racket Sports opened a four-court pickleball facility at Bathurst Point on Rottnest Island in December 2025, with QR code self-service booking, paddle and ball hire, beginner sessions and social play. It is a genuinely different way to try the game on a day trip, but remember the ferry time when planning a session.

Tournaments in Perth

Pickleball Australia's state championships list shows the WA Pickleball Championships 2026 were held in Heathridge from 27 February to 2 March 2026. PAWA's tournaments page lists other recent WA events, including the WA Junior Classic 2025 and events at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex and Nollamara Tennis Club. State championships are Tier 3 ranking events under Pickleball Australia's ranking system. Read more in my tournaments guide.

How to choose a Perth venue

1. New to the game? Pick a venue that mentions beginners or supplies equipment, such as Nollamara Tennis Club, Kingsway Indoor Stadium or George Burnett Leisure Centre, and read my beginner's guide first.
2. Want to book a court with friends? Arena Joondalup and the dedicated centres take court bookings.
3. Want regular social games? Join a PAWA-affiliated club. Membership through a club also brings Pickleball Australia's member benefits, including personal injury insurance at affiliated venues and events, as described on its How to Join page.
